Roundtable Meeting on Employment Linked Incentive Scheme Held in New Delhi

New Delhi: A significant roundtable meeting chaired by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, took place today in New Delhi. The meeting brought together representatives from Central Trade Union Organisations (CTUOs) to discuss the newly proposed Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, recently announced in the Union Budget, alongside other labour welfare initiatives. Union Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, and senior officials from the Ministry of Labour & Employment were also present.

The meeting aimed to introduce the ELI scheme to the trade unions and seek their feedback on its formulation. Dr. Mandaviya highlighted the government’s strong commitment to the welfare of the labour force, which he described as the backbone of the nation’s economic growth and development. He emphasized the importance of trade unions as the voice of workers, stating that their insights are crucial for shaping effective, fair, and inclusive policies.

During the session, a detailed presentation on the proposed ELI scheme was made, outlining its objectives and benefits. Dr. Mandaviya invited suggestions from the trade unions to refine the scheme, which is designed to incentivize businesses to create more employment opportunities and provide meaningful, sustainable jobs for the youth.

The discussion also covered various other labour welfare measures being implemented by the government. Dr. Mandaviya assured the representatives that such consultations will be an ongoing process, aimed at incorporating valuable feedback to ensure that policies and schemes promote fairness, inclusivity, and equitable growth.

The trade union representatives shared their perspectives on the ELI scheme and other measures, contributing to a constructive dialogue on improving labour welfare. Dr. Mandaviya concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to engaging with trade unions and incorporating their input to better serve the interests of all stakeholders in the labour sector.
