RINL Wins National Energy Leader Award for Sixth Consecutive Year

Visakhapatnam: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, has once again demonstrated its commitment to sustainable energy practices by securing the prestigious National Energy Leader Award from the Confederation of Indian Industry – Green Business Centre (CII-GBC). The accolade was awarded to RINL for the sixth consecutive year, further cementing its status as a leader in energy efficiency and conservation.

K. Sudhakar, GM (Energy Management Department-EMD-I/c), along with his team, received the award on behalf of RINL from Milind Deora, Secretary, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India, at a ceremony held in Hyderabad on 12th September.

In addition to this honor, RINL also achieved the Excellent Energy Efficient Unit Award for the eighth consecutive year, highlighting the company’s consistent efforts to enhance energy performance through initiatives such as:

  • Harnessing waste heat recovery systems
  • Pulverized Coal Injection (PCI) in blast furnaces
  • Waste recycling and energy benchmarking

Receiving the National Energy Leader Award for six consecutive years is a rare distinction, underscoring RINL’s unwavering dedication to reducing carbon footprints and embracing innovative technologies for sustainable growth.

RINL’s Chairman and Managing Director, A.K. Bagchi, expressed his pride and congratulated the entire RINL team, particularly the Energy Management Department, for their exceptional efforts in securing this prestigious recognition. He emphasized that the achievements reflect the company’s forward-thinking approach to energy conservation, setting a benchmark for excellence in the industry.
