Cuttack: In a recent update to the Orissa High Court, the ongoing repair work on the Natamandap and Jagamohan of the revered Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri is expected to be completed by April 30, 2024. Amicus Curiae M K Mohanty conveyed this information verbally, assuring the court that the restoration efforts by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) are on track for timely completion.
The court requested Amicus Curiae M K Mohanty to submit an affidavit within a week, officially confirming the anticipated completion date. The next hearing on this matter is scheduled for the upcoming week.
Highlighting progress, the Amicus Curiae informed the court that the beam design for the repair works has been finalized, marking a significant step forward in the restoration process.
This development comes after the Orissa High Court expressed dissatisfaction in November 2023 over delays in the restoration work at the 12th-century shrine in the pilgrim town of Puri. The court issued directives for the ASI to commence its work from November 16, emphasizing that the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) must extend full cooperation to ensure the successful execution of the restoration efforts.
