Reliance Jio Retains Dominance in Odisha Telecom Sector

Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio has continued its stellar performance as the leading digital service provider in Odisha, solidifying its top position in the state. According to the latest telecom subscriber data released by TRAI, Reliance Jio emerged as the frontrunner by adding over 1.25 lakh new mobile subscribers in Odisha in the month of March 2024. In contrast, its nearest competitor Airtel managed to add just 74,000 mobile subscribers during the same period. Meanwhile, both VI and BSNL experienced a decline in their mobile subscriber base in the state.

The surge in Jio’s subscriber base has propelled the total number of mobile subscribers on its network in Odisha to nearly 1.52 crores as of March 31, 2024. Overall, the telecom subscriber base in Odisha witnessed an increase of over 1.75 lakhs in March, reaching a total of over 3.37 crores mobile subscribers in the state.

On a national scale, Reliance Jio maintained its momentum by adding over 21.43 lakh subscribers in March, elevating its total mobile subscriber base across India to over 46.97 crores. This further reinforces its position as the leading digital service provider in the country.

Reliance Jio’s dominance in Odisha is underscored by its impressive market share, commanding over 45% of the subscriber market and 52% of the revenue market in the industry. The company’s rapid growth in the state can be attributed to its extensive 4G and 5G network coverage, expansion into previously unconnected regions, and the popularity of its affordable offerings such as the JioBharat 4G phone priced at just Rs. 999/-. Additionally, access to premium applications like JioSaavn, JioCinema, JioTV, and UPI payment facilities has contributed to its appeal among consumers.

Furthermore, Reliance Jio’s innovative JioAirFiber service has gained traction in Odisha, offering an integrated solution for high-speed broadband and home entertainment. Available in over 250 towns and numerous villages across the state, JioAirFiber has bridged the gap in last-mile connectivity, providing access to quality broadband and digital services to previously underserved areas. This initiative has positioned Jio as a reliable provider of high-speed broadband services, catering to the evolving needs of consumers across Odisha.
