Reliance and Google Cloud Partner to Build AI-Powered Cloud Region in Jamnagar

Mumbai: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) today announced the expansion of its strategic partnership with Google Cloud to accelerate India’s next leap in artificial intelligence (AI). The collaboration will see the two companies jointly build a state-of-the-art cloud region in Jamnagar, designed to power AI-driven transformation across Reliance’s businesses and beyond.

Reliance and Google have spent over a decade working together to make internet access affordable and widespread in India, playing a pivotal role in driving the country’s digital revolution. This new phase of collaboration aims to take that vision further by creating secure, high-performance AI infrastructure, powered by renewable energy and connected by Jio’s advanced digital network.

As part of the initiative, RIL will design, build, and operate the dedicated cloud facility and associated network infrastructure in Jamnagar, ensuring full compliance with Google Cloud’s global standards and service levels. The facility will be capable of handling the most demanding AI workloads while enabling Reliance to modernize operations, accelerate innovation, and deliver AI-first services to enterprises, SMBs, startups, developers, and the public sector.

Google Cloud will deploy its AI hypercomputer and fully integrated AI stack, including generative AI models, development platforms, and AI-powered applications. Backed by Reliance’s clean energy initiatives, the facility will run sustainably at hyperscale, while Jio will provide high-capacity fiber connectivity linking Jamnagar to major metros including Mumbai and Delhi.

Commenting on the partnership, Mukesh D. Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Limited, said, “This partnership with Google Cloud marks a new chapter in India’s technology journey. By bringing Google Cloud’s AI capabilities to Jamnagar, supported by Reliance’s infrastructure, renewable energy, and nationwide network, we are laying the foundation for India to become a global leader in AI. Just as Jio and Google came together to democratize the internet for every Indian, we will now democratize intelligence for every Indian.”

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet, added, “At Google, we’ve long been investing in India’s digital future, and our partnership with Reliance and Jio has been an important part of how we do that. Our work together over the last decade has helped bring affordable internet access to millions. And now, we are building on this to help shape the next leap with AI. This is only the beginning, and we look forward to building India’s AI future together.”

The initiative is expected to position India as a global hub for AI innovation, strengthening its digital economy and enabling enterprises across industries to adopt cutting-edge AI solutions at scale.
