Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh Approves Financial Incentive for Armed Forces Medalists in Asian Games

New Delhi: Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh has given the green light to a significant financial incentive for the Armed Forces personnel who showcased exceptional prowess and brought laurels to the nation in the 19th Asian Games and 4th Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, China in September-October 2023.

In a noteworthy move, the Raksha Mantri has approved cash rewards for the medal-winning heroes. For both the Asian Games and Asian Para Games, Gold medalists will receive a substantial cash reward of Rs 25 lakh each, while Silver medal winners will be awarded Rs 15 lakh each, and Bronze medalists will receive Rs 10 lakh each.

The gesture comes as a recognition of the stellar performance of several Service athletes who not only demonstrated exceptional skill but also made India proud on the international stage. Raksha Mantri had previously felicitated these athletes upon their return, commending them for their outstanding achievements in the Games.

A total of 45 medal winners, including seven Para athletes, have been approved for cash rewards. These athletes collectively secured 09 Gold, 18 Silver, and 17 Bronze medals in the Asian Games, along with 01 Gold, 04 Silver, and 02 Bronze medals in the Asian Para Games.

This financial incentive, introduced by the Ministry of Defence for the Armed Forces personnel, marks a significant step to encourage and motivate these athletes. As they gear up for the qualifying events leading to the Paris Olympics Games 2024, the incentive aims to propel them to strive for even greater excellence and bring further glory to the nation.
