Raj Bhavan Garden in Bhubaneswar Opens for Public and Students

Bhubaneswar: The picturesque garden of Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the Governor, has been opened to the general public and school students for a limited period of 10 days, starting from Monday. The garden, known for its vibrant array of flowers, elegant water fountains, and diverse wildlife, offers a serene escape to visitors.

The Raj Bhavan garden boasts a wide variety of colorful flowers, graceful deer, peacocks, and peahens, along with ducks, swans, and a pond teeming with vibrant fish. Visitors can explore the beautifully maintained garden daily from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM, with the last entry permitted at 4:30 PM.

Entry is free but strictly regulated through the ‘Raj Bhavan Garden Visit’ mobile app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

Students up to Class X have been granted exclusive access to the garden from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM, except on Sundays. They must attend in school uniforms and carry valid school identity cards. The visit requires prior approval from school authorities, who must submit a written request to the ADC to the Governor at adc.odishagovernor@gmail.com.

The request should include:

  • The name and contact details of the supervising authority.
  • The date and purpose of the visit.
  • The number of students and accompanying staff.

Students must be accompanied by adequate numbers of teachers and non-teaching staff, as per the issued guidelines.

Important Guidelines for Visitors

  1. Governor Meetings: Requests for meetings with the Governor during the visit will not be entertained.
  2. Safety Protocols: Visitors must adhere to all safety and security norms at Raj Bhavan.
  3. Food Restrictions: Carrying food and beverages inside the premises is prohibited.
  4. Liability: Raj Bhavan authorities will not be held responsible for mishaps or injuries during the visits.
  5. Cancellations: Permissions may be revoked due to unforeseen events or emergencies.

The Raj Bhavan garden, usually closed to the public, is opened every winter, drawing large crowds. Visitors flock to admire the floral beauty and tranquil environment. The garden’s limited opening is a cherished tradition, offering a rare opportunity to experience its splendor.
