Railways to Add Temporary Coaches to Several Trains Ahead of Festive Rush

Bhubaneswar: The Railways will temporarily augment several trains originating from Odisha with additional coaches to accommodate the expected rise in passenger demand during the upcoming festive season.

The additional coaches will provide extra berths and seating capacity on several important routes between October 1 and November 3, 2026.

The Bhubaneswar–KSR Bengaluru Prasanthi Express (18463) will get an additional Third AC coach from October 1 to 31, while the return service (18464) will have the additional coach from October 2 to November 1.

The Odisha Sampark Kranti Express will also be augmented with one Third AC coach in both directions. Train 12819, operating from Bhubaneswar to Anand Vihar Terminal, will carry the additional coach from October 3 to 31, while train 12820, from Anand Vihar Terminal to Bhubaneswar, will have it from October 6 to November 3.

Similarly, the Bhubaneswar–Tirupati Super Fast Express (22879) will get one Third AC coach from October 3 to 31, with the Tirupati–Bhubaneswar service (22880) receiving the additional coach from October 4 to November 1.

The Hirakhand Express services will also see temporary augmentation. Train 18447, from Bhubaneswar to Jagdalpur, will have one additional Third AC coach from October 1 to 31, while the return service (18448) will have the additional coach from October 2 to November 1.

For the Sambalpur–Rayagada–Sambalpur Intercity Express (18301/18302), one AC Chair Car coach will be added in both directions from October 1 to 31.

The Puri–Gunupur Express (18417) will get an additional AC Chair Car coach from October 1 to 31, while the Gunupur–Puri service (18418) will have the additional coach from October 2 to November 1.

The Sambalpur–Shalimar Mahima Gosain Express (20832) will be augmented with one Sleeper Class coach from October 1 to 29. Its return service, 20831, will carry the additional Sleeper Class coach from October 2 to 30.

The Bhubaneswar–Purnakatak Intercity Super Fast Express (12893) will receive two additional General (UR) coaches from October 1 to 31. The return service (12894) will have the two additional coaches from October 2 to November 1.

The Shri Ganganagar–Puri Super Fast Express (20471) will get one additional Third AC coach from October 4 to 25, while the Puri–Shri Ganganagar service (20472) will have the additional coach from October 7 to 28.

The temporary augmentation is aimed at increasing carrying capacity on these routes during the festive travel period and providing passengers with additional berths and seating options.
