Bhubaneswar: In a significant move, the Ministry of Railways has granted approval for the establishment of a Wagon Periodic Overhauling (PoH) facility at Kantabanji, allocating ₹244.77 Crore as sanctioned by the Railway Board. The green signal comes following a meticulous evaluation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) submitted in September 2023.
The proposed Wagon PoH workshop, designed to accommodate 200 wagons, will be situated on the available vacant land with Railways at Kantabanji. This decision responds to persistent demands from local residents and public representatives who have ardently advocated for such a facility in the region.
Acknowledging the critical necessity of this workshop, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw affirmed his commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the local populace. The approval from the Railway Board underscores the government’s dedication to addressing the needs and concerns of citizens.
