RailOne App Launched to Revolutionize Rail Passenger Experience

New Delhi: In a significant step toward enhancing passenger services and embracing digital transformation, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw today launched RailOne, a next-generation mobile application designed to streamline the interface between passengers and Indian Railways. The launch took place at the India Habitat Centre, marking the 40th Foundation Day of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS).

Described as a one-stop solution for multiple railway services, RailOne aims to modernize and simplify the journey experience for millions of users. The app integrates key passenger services such as unreserved ticket booking via R-Wallet with a 3% discount, real-time train tracking, grievance redressal, and access to e-catering, porter, and last-mile taxi services.

While IRCTC will continue to offer reserved ticket booking, the RailOne app has been officially authorised by IRCTC, joining other commercial platforms partnered with the Railways.

“This app is a major milestone in our mission to improve passenger convenience and build a digitally empowered Indian Railways,” said Minister Vaishnaw. “RailOne will offer a unified and user-friendly interface with single sign-on features including mPIN and biometric login. It supports existing RailConnect and UTS credentials, eliminating the need to install multiple applications.”

The app is available for download on both the Android Play Store and the iOS App Store.

Toward a Modern Passenger Reservation System by 2025

Minister Vaishnaw also lauded CRIS for its ongoing efforts to develop a modern Passenger Reservation System (PRS), expected to be ready by December 2025. The new PRS will be agile, multilingual, and scalable—capable of handling up to 1.5 lakh bookings and 40 lakh inquiries per minute.

Key features of the upcoming PRS will include enhanced seat selection, a fare calendar, and specialized booking options for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities), students, and patients—making it inclusive and more responsive to diverse passenger needs.

A Decade of Transformation

Indian Railways has witnessed a remarkable transformation over the last decade. From the introduction of new-generation trains and LHB coaches to the redevelopment of major stations and digital ticketing systems, the national transporter has consistently worked to improve passenger amenities.

Today’s launch of the RailOne app is a testament to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making Indian Railways the growth engine of the nation’s Vikas Yatra (journey of development). “This is not just about technology—it’s about democratizing access to world-class mobility services for every citizen,” the Minister added.
