
New Delhi: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has ushered in a new era with the appointment of Raghuram Iyer as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), fulfilling a crucial requirement mandated by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in line with the reforms instituted by the organization.
Raghuram Iyer, meticulously selected through a comprehensive process conducted by the Nomination Committee, is set to take the reins from Kalyan Choubey, the temporary CEO and All-India Football Federation (AIFF) president. The IOA, in a statement released on Friday, highlighted Iyer’s wealth of experience and a proven track record in sports management and administration, making him the ideal candidate to lead the organization in its mission to foster and advance Olympic sports in India.
The Nomination Committee, after careful consideration and thorough interviews with shortlisted candidates, unanimously decided on Raghuram Iyer’s appointment as the CEO. Dr PT Usha, representing the Nomination Committee, expressed confidence in Iyer’s ability to guide the IOA to new heights.
“We believe that Raghuram Iyer brings a unique combination of leadership, strategic vision, and a deep understanding of the sports landscape. His appointment is a significant step towards the continued growth and success of Indian sports on the global stage,” said Dr Usha.
