QCI and KVIC sign MoU

Delhi: The Quality Council of India will now be responsible for ensuring the quality of the ‘New Khadi of New India,’ which, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has achieved global recognition as a brand. The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and the Quality Council of India (QCI) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to elevate the quality of Khadi products, empower artisans, and present quality products under the ‘Made in India’ label for Khadi at Kochrab Ashram in Ahmedabad today. The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Chairman KVIC Shri Manoj Kumar and Chairman QCI Shri Jaxay Shah. This collaboration aims to create ‘World Class Khadi Products’ in line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision.

As per the MoU, the Quality Council of India will collaborate with KVIC in various activities, including providing training to enhance the quality of Khadi and Village Industries products, improving their productivity, and enhancing marketability both domestically and internationally. Additionally, it will support KVIC in empowering Khadi artisans and promoting Khadi products through various channels. This partnership will also rebrand Khadi as ‘Made in India’ products, increasing the production and sale of Khadi items as a symbol of quality worldwide. It will open up new employment opportunities for Khadi artisans, fostering greater productivity and efficiency by equipping them with advanced skills and knowledge.

Chairman KVIC Shri Manoj Kumar stated, “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, ‘New Khadi of New India’ is progressing towards becoming the identity of a developed India.” He emphasized KVIC’s continuous efforts to modernize Khadi, highlighting previous MoUs signed with Prasar Bharati, NBCC (India) Limited, and Digital India Corporation. He added that the collaboration with QCI aims to modernize the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, aligning with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This partnership is expected to enhance the skills of the Khadi industry and its associated artisans, establishing the quality of Khadi products on a global level.

President of QCI Shri Jaxay Shah expressed pride in partnering with KVIC to enhance the quality of Khadi and KVIC products and empower the involved artisans. He emphasized that Khadi is not just an industry but also a symbol of India’s culture and heritage, representing the country’s cultural identity, craftsmanship, and sustainability. Shah noted that this collaboration aligns with the goal of achieving a developed India and will contribute to greater global recognition. The program was attended by representatives of Khadi institutions, Khadi artisans, Khadi workers, as well as officers and employees of KVIC and QCI.
