Puri Jagannath Temple Deploys Retired Army Personnel to Overhaul Anand Bazaar Operations

Puri: In a major step to boost security and improve operations at the revered Puri Jagannath Temple, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has deployed 20 retired Army personnel to oversee the functioning of the Anand Bazaar area, where the sacred Mahaprasad is sold to devotees. This initiative aims to reform the Bazaar by ensuring that only freshly prepared Mahaprasad is offered, enhancing both the quality and sanctity of the temple’s offerings.

The primary focus of this deployment is to prevent the sale of stale food and uphold the sacredness of the Mahaprasad, a key part of the devotional experience for millions of pilgrims visiting the temple. Known for their discipline and expertise in security, the retired Army personnel will also manage crowd control, ensuring peace and order within the temple premises.

A temple managing committee member explained the reasoning behind this decision: “All of them are experienced in crowd management and security. We believe their presence will help preserve the traditions and sanctity of our temple while ensuring a peaceful environment for the devotees.”

This move follows a decision taken during a recent meeting of the temple management, where the need for disciplined oversight in the bustling Anand Bazaar was discussed. The introduction of retired military personnel is expected to lead to smoother operations and enhance the overall experience for devotees, ensuring they receive high-quality Mahaprasad in a serene, organized atmosphere.
