
Bhubaneswar: In a significant boost to passenger safety and comfort, the 12892/12891 Puri–Bangiriposi–Puri Super Fast Express has been upgraded with state-of-the-art Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches. The inaugural run of the newly upgraded train was ceremonially flagged off this morning from Bangiriposi Railway Station.
The regular operation of the train with LHB coaches will commence from Puri on April 29, 2025, and from Bangiriposi on April 30, 2025. Previously, the train operated with conventional ICF coaches, which have now been replaced with the superior LHB coaches known for their enhanced safety features and riding comfort.
The upgraded train composition includes 1 AC Chair Car, 6 Second Class Reserved Seating Coaches, 5 General Second Class Coaches, 1 Guard cum Power Car, and 1 Guard cum Second Class Coach specially designed for Divyangjan passengers.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including Naba Charan Majhi, MP, Mayurbhanj (Lok Sabha), Mamata Mohanta, MP (Rajya Sabha), Sanjali Murmu, MLA, Bangiriposi, and Bhadav Hansdah, MLA, Saraskana, who lauded the development as a major step towards improving railway services in Odisha.
Connecting the coastal belt with the tribal heartlands of the state through Bhubaneswar, the Puri–Bangiriposi–Puri Super Fast Express plays a vital role in regional connectivity. The introduction of LHB coaches is expected to significantly enhance travel experiences and operational efficiency on this important route.
