Jharsuguda: The second day of the 24th CII Enterprise Odisha 2024 witnessed in-depth discussions on steering Odisha towards prosperity at the Exhibition Ground in Jharsuguda. The focus was on tapping into the state’s vast potential across various sectors to drive economic growth.
Notable speakers included Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, Bhupendra Singh Punia, MD of IPICOL and IDCO, and district Collectors.
The session “Opportunities in Agriculture and Food Processing” delved into the potential for farmers and agri-entrepreneurs, highlighting significant investments by the water resources department. The call for farmers to embrace diverse and profitable crops and establish small-scale industries echoed through the discourse. The implementation of nano urea and strategies for transporting agricultural products to the market were also emphasized.
In the sphere of skill development, the discussion revolved around enhancing human resource development through industry-academia collaboration. Organizations like Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Ashok Leyland, Tata Steel, and Hindalco were recognized for their efforts in cultivating skilled manpower. The session underscored the importance of imparting not only technical skills but also life skills for holistic professional development.
A special session dedicated to Mission Shakti and women empowerment highlighted the need for the upliftment of women socially, economically, and politically. The establishment of industrial parks in all districts for women’s self-help groups (SHGs) was proposed to create opportunities across sectors.
The Yi Innovex session on startups stressed the importance of respecting entrepreneurs and the role of grooming in entrepreneurial success. The government demonstrated its commitment to facilitating a conducive environment for startups, pledging to periodically amend rules and regulations.
The event featured valuable insights from a range of speakers, including Nilanjana Mukherjee, CEO at Kalinga Hospitals Ltd; Monalisa Panda, Chairperson, CII Indian Women Network, Odisha; Prof. Sasmita Samanta, the Founder of SOUL; L. Sangeeta Kujur, Assistant General Manager at Union Bank of India; and Rowan Ainsworth, Consul General at the Australian Consulate General.
