Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Warns of Constitution Changes, Promises Tea Garden Workers’ Wage Hike

Guwahati: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra sounded an alarm on Tuesday, alleging that the BJP harbours intentions to alter the Constitution if re-elected to power in the upcoming polls.

Addressing a massive road show in Jorhat in support of party candidate Gaurav Gogoi, Priyanka Gandhi asserted that BJP workers have been engaging in discussions with the public, proposing plans to amend the Constitution post-Lok Sabha elections. She cautioned that such a move could potentially undermine the democratic fabric of the nation.

Expressing concern over the potential consequences, Priyanka Gandhi cautioned, “If this happens, there may be no elections at all in the country.”

The Congress leader also pledged to prioritize the welfare of tea garden workers, asserting that their daily wages would be increased if the opposition INDIA bloc assumes power at the center.

Recalling her earlier promise during a visit to Assam, Priyanka Gandhi reiterated her commitment to enhancing the livelihoods of tea garden workers. She lamented the failure of the BJP-led government to address their concerns adequately.

“When BJP leaders come to campaign, they talk about irrelevant issues. Gaurav Gogoi has consistently brought up people’s concerns,” she championed.

Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Priyanka Gandhi criticized his purported lack of focus on critical issues such as unemployment, accusing him of neglecting substantive policy discussions in favor of self-promotion.

“Vote for Congress if you want to stop price rise. I request the people of Assam not to vote on caste and religion. It is time to teach the BJP a hard lesson,” she urged.

Accompanied by Congress state President Bhupen Borah, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Debabrata Saikia, and other senior leaders, Priyanka Gandhi led the spirited road show from Titabor in Jorhat, rallying support for Gaurav Gogoi and reaffirming the party’s commitment to safeguarding democratic values and uplifting marginalized communities.
