Principal Secretary Evaluates Rural Development Projects in Monthly Review Meeting

Bhubaneswar: In a rigorous monthly review meeting of the Rural Development department, Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh assessed the progress of various projects undertaken in the first 100 days of the current financial year 2024-25. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards, Singh outlined the projects scheduled for completion in the next 100 days, insisting on strict adherence to quality and timely execution.

The meeting, held at the department’s Oswan Hall in the Lok Seva Bhavan on Thursday, brought together engineers from all RD divisions across the state. Presiding over the session, Singh issued clear administrative directives to ensure that all Rural Development projects are completed within the stipulated timelines without compromising on any quality aspects.

Singh began by reviewing the execution of projects during the initial 100 days of the financial year. The status and various aspects of these projects were thoroughly examined. He also engaged in detailed discussions regarding the projects slated for the upcoming 100 days, directing officials to expedite construction activities and prioritize the quality of construction.

Key directives from Singh included completing the remaining tender processes with full administrative approval. Engineers were instructed to monitor the progress of ongoing projects under the Biju Setu Yojana and ensure the timely completion of approach roads. He also emphasized the importance of completing projects under the RIDF scheme on time and called for regular updates on the progress of various district projects under the Biju Setu Yojana.

Singh stressed the need for timely submission of feasibility reports, tender agreements, and PCRs of completed works for project approval. Executive Engineers were tasked with examining and reporting on schemes and targets that could be met. Additionally, he urged the finalization of projects initiated in the financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24, and prioritized the completion of ongoing projects under PMGSY and MMSY, especially those predating 2021-22.
