New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the 32nd International Conference of Agricultural Economists (ICAE) at the National Agricultural Science Centre (NASC) Complex, New Delhi, at 9:30 AM today. The Prime Minister will also address the gathering, emphasizing the significance of sustainable agricultural practices.
The triennial conference, organized by the International Association of Agricultural Economists, is being held in India for the first time in 65 years. Scheduled from August 2 to August 7, 2024, this year’s conference focuses on the theme “Transformation Towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems.” The theme highlights the urgent need for sustainable agriculture amid global challenges such as climate change, natural resource degradation, rising production costs, and conflicts.
The ICAE 2024 will underline India’s proactive stance on global agricultural issues and will showcase the nation’s advancements in agricultural research and policy. The conference aims to provide a platform for young researchers and leading professionals to present their work and engage with global peers. It also seeks to strengthen partnerships between research institutes and universities, influence policy-making on both national and global levels, and highlight India’s progress in areas like digital agriculture and sustainable agri-food systems.
Approximately 1,000 delegates from around 75 countries are expected to participate in the conference, making it a significant event for the global agricultural community.
