Prime Minister Narendra Modi Connects with PVTG Beneficiaries, Releases Funds for PMAY-G

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM JANMAN) from Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Maharashtra through a video conference. The interaction focused on Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG) communities, where the Prime Minister released the initial sum of Rs. 540 crores for the construction of 1 lakh pucca houses under the rural housing scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G).

Highlighting the government’s commitment to uplift PVTG communities, the Prime Minister acknowledged the historical deprivation faced by these communities for the past 75 years. He emphasized that through the PM-JANMAN scheme, the government is dedicated to providing essential amenities such as pucca houses, water, electricity, roads, mobile connectivity, MMU, Aadhar card, and Ayushman card to PVTG communities.

Expressing gratitude to officials who worked diligently through outreach camps to ensure the delivery of benefits at the doorstep of individuals in remote areas, the Prime Minister underscored the collaborative efforts of various government ministries for the welfare of these backward communities.

Union Tribal Affairs Minister, Shri Arjun Munda, lauded the Prime Minister’s emotional and focused approach in ensuring justice for historically deprived tribal families through the PM-JANMAN campaign. Out of 22,500 PVTG villages, 17,443 participated in the event.

Shri Munda highlighted the success of more than 8,000 camps organized within two months, providing essential benefits to the most backward tribal populations. He thanked Union Ministries and State governments for their tireless efforts, leading to the approval of projects worth Rs. 4769 crores by the Prime Minister. Shri Munda expressed confidence that over 50% of the schemes would be approved in the current financial year, showcasing the ‘Whole of Government’ approach for the overall development of tribal people.
