Prime Minister Narendra Modi Addresses All India Presiding Officers’ Conference, Stresses on Legislative Efficiency

New Delhi: In a video message to the All India Presiding Officers’ Conference, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the significance of the event, especially in the aftermath of the 75th Republic Day celebrations. The Prime Minister expressed his tribute to the members of the Constituent Assembly, marking the 75th year of the Indian Constitution.

Prime Minister Modi urged attendees to draw inspiration from the ideals of the Constituent Assembly. He emphasized the need to learn from the Assembly’s responsibility in forming a consensus among various thoughts, subjects, and opinions.

Addressing the efficiency of legislative bodies, Prime Minister Modi stressed its importance in today’s scenario where vigilant citizens scrutinize every representative. He called upon Presiding Officers to leave a legacy that serves as heritage for future generations.

Expressing concern about the conduct of members in legislative bodies, Prime Minister Modi highlighted its direct impact on the productivity of the assembly. He urged concrete suggestions from the conference to enhance productivity and emphasized that the conduct of representatives shapes the image of the House.

Prime Minister Modi underscored the need for accountability in public life, expressing concern about the glorification of convicted corrupt individuals. He called for discussions and concrete suggestions on this matter during the conference.

Recognizing the role of state governments, Prime Minister Modi asserted that India’s progress hinges on the advancement of states. He highlighted the crucial role of committees in economic progress and urged their empowerment.

Addressing legal matters, Prime Minister Modi commended the central government’s efforts in repealing over two thousand laws detrimental to the system. He urged Presiding Officers to pay attention to unnecessary laws and their impact on citizens’ lives.

Encouraging discussions on enhancing women’s participation and representation, Prime Minister Modi stressed the need to empower women in committees. He also emphasized increasing the participation of youth in committees to ensure their views are heard in policy-making.

In conclusion, Prime Minister Modi recalled the concept of One Nation-One Legislative Platform, expressing satisfaction that Parliament and State Assemblies are working towards this goal through E-Vidhan and Digital Sansad Platforms.
