Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) Chairpersons Witness Republic Day Parade as Special Guests

New Delhi:  In a remarkable celebration of the Republic Day, the Chairpersons of approximately 250 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and their spouses, hailing from various parts of the country, were accorded the honor of being “Special Guests” at the Republic Day Parade 2024 held at Kartavyapath. The government’s gesture aimed to recognize the pivotal role played by these societies in rural development and cooperative sectors.

Later in the evening, the Special Guests actively participated in the “Bharat Parv” held at the iconic Red Fort in the capital. The two-day Republic Day festivities were celebrated with immense enthusiasm, showcasing the diverse cultural tapestry of India.

The Ministry of Cooperation, led by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, has been at the forefront of realizing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi.” In a short span of time, the Ministry has undertaken over 54 initiatives, with the “Computerization of PACS” project standing out as a major endeavor. This initiative involves the computerization of 63,000 PACS with a total financial outlay of Rs. 2,516 Crores, and has already successfully computerized over 12,000 PACS across 28 States/UTs.

The Republic Day celebrations were not only a momentous occasion for the PACS Chairpersons but also provided an opportunity for interaction and engagement. Union Minister of State for Cooperation, Shri B.L. Verma, hosted an interactive dinner on the eve of Republic Day, where he emphasized the significant initiatives undertaken by the Ministry and reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening the cooperative sector.

During the interaction, several Chairpersons shared their experiences regarding the benefits derived from the PACS Computerization Project within their respective societies. The presence of Special Secretary, Additional Secretary, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Cooperation and NABARD added to the significance of the occasion.

The hosting of PACS Chairpersons as Special Guests not only created a memorable experience but also highlighted the success of the PACS Computerization Project. This event is expected to inspire participating PACS to contribute with renewed vigor towards realizing the vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi,” reinforcing the cooperative sector’s pivotal role in India’s socio-economic growth.
