President Urges Officer Trainees to Embrace Technology for Efficient Financial Management

New Delhi:  President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, met with the officer trainees of the 31st batch of Probationers Training Course at the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management. The batch consists of officers from the Indian Civil Accounts Service, Indian Defence Accounts Service, and Indian P&T (Finance and Accounts) Service. During the meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President emphasized the critical role of a robust public financial management system in ensuring good governance.

President Murmu highlighted the responsibility of the officer trainees in building and maintaining an efficient financial management system that contributes to the effective functioning of the government. She stressed the importance of propriety and prudence in governance, urging the officers to shoulder their responsibilities with utmost sincerity and utilize their abilities for the benefit of the nation.

In her address, the President acknowledged the ongoing digital transformation in the country and emphasized the rising expectations for greater efficiency, transparency, and accountability in service delivery. She encouraged the officer trainees to embrace technology to make governance more citizen-centric and transparent. President Murmu emphasized that their role extends beyond maximizing the utility of financial resources; it includes analyzing the impact of policy changes and proposing reforms to enhance various governance systems, including financial management.

The President advised the officer trainees to stay updated with the rapidly evolving world of technology, emphasizing the need to devise mechanisms that leverage the latest technology to make accounting and auditing systems seamless. The officers were urged to contribute to the ongoing efforts to use technology for the betterment of financial management systems and governance overall.
