New Delhi: A group of artists from various states, currently participating in the ‘SRIJAN 2024’ Artist-in-Residency program at Rashtrapati Bhavan, met with the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on October 29, 2024. The President toured an exhibition of their artwork, created during their residency, and commended the pieces for capturing the deep connection between humans and nature.
President Murmu expressed her admiration for the artists’ work, remarking that it beautifully showcased the timeless relationship between people and the environment. She encouraged the public to support and uplift these artists by appreciating and purchasing their art.
The artists, hailing from states like Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Mizoram, Telangana, Uttarakhand, and Jharkhand, reside near various Tiger Reserves. During their stay, which began on October 21, they created vibrant paintings using natural colors and traditional art forms, including Saura, Gond, Warli, Aipan, and Sohrai.
