President Murmu Inaugurates ‘Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the second edition of Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday, celebrating the rich cultural diversity of South India. This edition of the festival highlights the heritage of five states—Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh—along with two Union Territories, Lakshadweep and Puducherry.

Speaking at the event, the President emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and urged people to participate in the festival to appreciate the traditions, crafts, and artistic expressions of South India. She expressed her delight at the participation of around 500 artisans and weavers, noting that their presence would not only showcase regional talent but also uplift the morale of traditional craftsmen and artists.

Vividhta ka Amrit Mahotsav is a multi-edition festival designed to celebrate India’s diversity. It is being held in seven phases, each dedicated to a specific region—North-East, South, North, East, West, Central, and the Union Territories. The second edition, focused on the southern states, features a wide array of cultural performances, handicraft and handloom exhibitions, literary discussions, interactive workshops, and regional cuisine.

The festival is open to the public from March 6 to 9, 2025, between 10 AM and 8 PM. Visitors can enter through Gate No. 35 of Rashtrapati Bhavan, where North Avenue meets Rashtrapati Bhavan. Online bookings can be made at visit.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in.
