President Murmu Calls for Tribal Empowerment and Tourism Growth in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: President of India, Droupadi Murmu, visited Odisha today, marking a significant moment for tribal welfare and regional development. She arrived in Bhubaneswar from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, and proceeded to Nayagarh, where she offered prayers at the revered Lord Nilamadhab Temple. Later, she attended the foundation day celebration of Bharatiya Biswabasu Shabar Samaj at Kaliapalli, emphasizing the role of tribal heritage in India’s progress.

Speaking at the event, President Murmu highlighted the natural beauty of Nayagarh and its potential as a major tourist destination. She stressed that developing tourism infrastructure in the region would not only attract visitors but also boost local livelihoods. Encouraging policymakers and community members to work together, she called for leveraging the region’s strengths in agriculture, handicrafts, and eco-tourism to drive sustainable growth.

The President underscored the strong environmental values embedded in tribal traditions, noting that indigenous communities have long worshipped forests and trees as sacred entities. She emphasized that this cultural belief serves as a vital lesson in ecological conservation and should be integrated into modern development strategies.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to tribal welfare, President Murmu spoke about various schemes designed to enhance economic opportunities while preserving indigenous culture. She urged tribal communities to stay informed and actively participate in these initiatives, stressing that real progress can only be achieved through collective effort and grassroots engagement.
