
Bathinda: President Droupadi Murmu graced the convocation ceremony of AIIMS Bathinda today, highlighting the institution’s pivotal role in providing affordable healthcare and fostering medical research in India.
Addressing the gathering, the President stated that for the common citizen, AIIMS represents access to top-tier medical treatment at an affordable cost, while for students, it symbolizes advanced education and research opportunities. She noted that the government has expanded AIIMS institutions across the country to enhance tertiary healthcare and promote medical innovation.
President Murmu underscored the importance of research and innovation in medical institutions, urging AIIMS Bathinda to emerge as a regional center of medical excellence. With a 750-bed facility and multiple specialty and super-specialty departments, AIIMS Bathinda has been making significant contributions to the healthcare needs of the region. She encouraged faculty and students to focus their research on both global and local health challenges to drive impactful advancements in the medical field.
Acknowledging the high regard for doctors in society, the President emphasized that a medical professional’s role extends beyond clinical expertise. She advised students to uphold compassion, kindness, and empathy in their practice, alongside their professional duties. She also addressed the emotional and physical challenges faced by healthcare professionals and recommended adopting a balanced lifestyle, regular exercise, and yoga to maintain their mental and physical well-being.
