President Droupadi Murmu to Visit Andaman and Nicobar Islands

New Delhi:  The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, is set to embark on a significant visit to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from February 19 to 23, 2024. The visit is poised to strengthen the bond between the nation and the strategically located archipelago.

On February 19, the President will commence her visit by paying homage to the martyrs at the Martyr’s Column. Subsequently, she will visit the historic Cellular Jail Complex and Museum, symbolizing the rich history and sacrifices made during India’s struggle for independence. The President will also witness the poignant light and sound show at the Cellular Jail, an immersive experience narrating the tales of the past. Later in the day, she will visit the Dr BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology in Port Blair, where a civic reception will be hosted in her honor.

February 20 will witness the President’s exploration of the scenic beauty of Indira Point and Campbell Bay, encapsulating the natural diversity of the islands. Additionally, she will visit Subhash Chandra Bose Island, a place with historical significance, and partake in the illuminating light and sound show.

On February 21, Smt Droupadi Murmu will engage with the members of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) of Andaman and Nicobar Islands at Raj Niwas in Port Blair. Simultaneously, she will witness an operational demonstration by troops at Radhanagar Beach, showcasing the strategic importance of the islands.
