President Droupadi Murmu Plays Badminton with Saina Nehwal

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu showcased her natural affinity for sports and games today as she engaged in a friendly game of badminton with renowned Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal at the Badminton Court in Rashtrapati Bhavan. This gesture by the President underscores India’s growing prowess in badminton, especially with women players making significant strides on the global stage.

Saina Nehwal, a celebrated sportsperson and recipient of the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awards, joined President Murmu for the game as part of an initiative highlighting women achievers in sports. The event, held at the historic Rashtrapati Bhavan, not only promoted the spirit of sportsmanship but also celebrated the achievements of Indian women athletes.

Tomorrow, as part of the ongoing ‘Her Story – My Story’ lecture series featuring women Padma Awardees,  Saina Nehwal will deliver a talk and interact with the audience at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. This series aims to inspire and empower through the stories of exemplary women who have excelled in their respective fields.
