Berhampur:   The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, graced the 25th convocation ceremony of Berhampur University today, held at Bhanja Bihar in Ganjam, Odisha. The distinguished presence of the President added prestige to the occasion, as she addressed the graduating students and highlighted the significance of the southern region of Odisha in the nation’s history.

President Murmu emphasized the rich cultural and historical contributions of the region, stating that it has played a pivotal role in the development of education, literature, arts, and crafts. She acknowledged the profound impact of literary giants such as Kabi Samrat Upendra Bhanja and Kabisurya Baladev Rath, both hailing from this culturally vibrant land.

Commending the sacrifices of freedom fighters, martyrs, and public servants originating from the region, the President underscored the historical importance of southern Odisha.

Berhampur University, established in 1967, holds the distinction of being the oldest university in the southern part of Odisha. President Murmu praised the institution for its pivotal role in the educational and overall development of the tribal-dominated area.

Highlighting the achievements of the university, the President revealed that approximately 45,000 students are currently enrolled in Berhampur University’s Postgraduate Departments and affiliated colleges. She stated that the nation is transitioning from women’s development to women-led development.

The President urged the graduates to view the convocation not only as a celebration of their academic achievements but also as an acknowledgment of their hard work and success. She emphasized that receiving a degree is not the end of education but the beginning of a lifelong journey of learning. President Murmu encouraged the graduates to utilize their knowledge and wisdom not only for personal growth but also for the betterment of society and the nation at large.

In closing, President Droupadi Murmu left the graduating students with a powerful message – to continue striving for excellence, pursue their passions, and contribute actively to the ongoing process of nation-building.
