New Delhi: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, today graced the award ceremony of the 64th National Exhibition of Art, organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi, and congratulated the winners for their contribution to the country’s artistic and cultural landscape.
Addressing the gathering, the President said that in Indian tradition, art has always been considered a spiritual practice that goes beyond aesthetics to enrich cultural heritage and nurture a more sensitive society. She commended the artists for presenting, through their imagination and creativity, the image of a new and vibrant India.
Murmu highlighted the importance of ensuring fair prices for artworks, noting that this not only supports practicing artists but also inspires younger generations to consider art as a viable profession. She appreciated the efforts of the Lalit Kala Akademi in promoting the sale of artworks, adding that such initiatives will strengthen both the creative economy and the livelihood of artists.
The President further urged art lovers and collectors to not only admire artistic creations but also to support them by purchasing. “We must all work together to strengthen India’s identity as both an economic and cultural power,” she said.
