President Droupadi Murmu Engages with Women Entrepreneurs, Commends Their Contributions to Indian Business Landscape

New Delhi:  In a significant initiative to foster a deeper connection with the people and acknowledge their contributions, President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, interacted with a group of women founders and co-founders of leading start-ups and unicorns at Rashtrapati Bhavan today. The meeting, organized under the initiative “The President with the People,” aimed to recognize and appreciate the transformative role played by women entrepreneurs in India’s business ecosystem.

Addressing the gathering, President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the transformative impact of women entrepreneurs on the Indian business environment. She emphasized the significance of the ‘Start-up India’ program, which was launched to harness the potential of the youth and strengthen the entrepreneurial landscape in the country. The President commended the women entrepreneurs for their invaluable contributions to achieving the objectives of this program, noting that India now boasts the third-largest start-up ecosystem globally, with over 1,17,000 start-ups and more than 100 unicorns.

Expressing her admiration for the achievements of these women entrepreneurs, President Murmu emphasized that their journey serves as a source of inspiration, particularly for women and youth. From technology start-ups to social enterprises, their work showcases the diverse capabilities of Indian women in entrepreneurship. Their contributions, she noted, extend beyond economic development, breaking traditional barriers and paving the way for an inclusive economic future based on talent and ambition rather than gender.

President Murmu highlighted the role of these women entrepreneurs as not just business leaders but as harbingers of change and role models for millions of young women aspiring for progress and development. She urged them to identify and support other enterprising women, creating a ripple effect that echoes success stories from every corner of the country. The President emphasized the need to work collaboratively towards building an India where every woman is empowered, and every young woman moves forward with confidence to fulfill her dreams.

The initiative “The President with the People” continues to strengthen the bond between the highest office and the citizens, recognizing and celebrating the diverse contributions that shape India’s progress.
