President Droupadi Murmu Emphasizes Cultural Pride and Empowerment at Central Sanskrit University Convocation

New Delhi:  The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, graced the inaugural convocation of Central Sanskrit University in New Delhi today, delivering an inspiring address that underscored the significance of Sanskrit in preserving and promoting India’s rich cultural heritage.

President Murmu expressed her deep belief that the sense of pride towards Indian culture serves as the foundation of the nation’s consciousness. Emphasizing the pivotal role of the Sanskrit language in preserving this cultural wealth, she highlighted the importance of spreading awareness about it as a service to the nation.

“Sanskrit has woven the diversity of our vast land into a thread of unity,” remarked President Murmu. She praised the language for strengthening various Indian languages through its vocabulary, contributing to their flourishing across different regions and states. She went on to describe Sanskrit not only as the language of God but also as the language of the people.

Celebrating the accomplishments of women scholars like Gargi, Maitreyi, Apala, and Lopamudra, President Murmu encouraged greater participation of women in the language. She commended the Central Sanskrit University for its efforts in women empowerment, noting with pleasure that the number of male and female gold medal winners was nearly equal at the convocation.

Highlighting the vast repository of spiritual and moral writings in Sanskrit, President Murmu spoke about the timeless wisdom conveyed by Acharyas in ancient times. She encouraged students to uphold values such as truthfulness, ethical behavior, diligent self-study, commitment to duty, and a consciousness of auspicious deeds. According to the President, embracing these principles would enable the students to do justice to their talents and succeed in fulfilling their duties.

The convocation was a momentous occasion, with President Murmu’s address serving as a source of inspiration for the graduating students and reflecting the commitment to the preservation and promotion of India’s cultural heritage.
