President Droupadi Murmu Bestows Bharat Ratna upon Veteran BJP Leader LK Advani

New Delhi: In a heartfelt ceremony held on Sunday, President Droupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious Bharat Ratna upon former Deputy Prime Minister and veteran BJP leader, LK Advani. The decision to bestow this honor upon Advani was made in consideration of his ailing health, recognizing his monumental contributions to Indian politics and society.

President Murmu personally visited the residence of senior BJP leader LK Advani to present him with the esteemed award, underscoring the significance of his remarkable journey and enduring legacy.

The central government’s announcement of five recipients for the Bharat Ratna this year included the eminent BJP leader LK Advani, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping India’s political landscape and fostering national development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing his elation over the recognition bestowed upon Advani, he shared on X, “I am very happy to share that Shri LK Advani Ji will be conferred the Bharat Ratna. I also spoke to him and congratulated him on being conferred this honor. One of the most respected statesmen of our times, his contribution to the development of India is monumental. His is a life that started from working at the grassroots to serving the nation as our Deputy Prime Minister. He distinguished himself as our Home Minister and I&B Minister as well. His Parliamentary interventions have always been exemplary, full of rich insights.”
