President Droupadi Murmu Attends Convocation at Panjab University

Chandigarh: President of India Droupadi Murmu graced the convocation ceremony of Panjab University in Chandigarh today, commending the institution’s 140-year legacy and its contributions to higher education, research, sports, and culture.

In her address, the President praised Panjab University’s distinguished record, highlighting its 17-time victory in the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy, a testament to its excellence in sports. She particularly lauded students Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh for their remarkable achievements at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which brought great pride to the country.

Murmu emphasized the importance of academic-industry collaboration, urging the university’s policymakers to further strengthen industry linkages and ensure that education remains application-based. She stressed that students should be equipped with advanced skills and a positive mindset to navigate the evolving technological landscape and increasing global competitiveness.

“Education should not only impart knowledge but also prepare students for real-world challenges. The future demands individuals who can adapt, innovate, and apply emerging technologies effectively,” the President remarked.

Addressing the graduating students, she reminded them of their privileged opportunity to study at one of India’s most prestigious universities, which has produced remarkable leaders, Nobel laureates, and pioneers across various fields. She urged them to uphold this rich legacy and make meaningful contributions to society, the nation, and the world.
