
PPresident Droupadi Murmu Marks Two Years in Office with Educational and Cultural Initiatives
New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new Governors in nine states and a new Lieutenant Governor for the Union Territory of Puducherry. The announcement came through a Press Communiqué from the Rashtrapati Bhawan, marking a notable change in the gubernatorial positions across the country.
The President has accepted the resignation of Shri Banwarilal Purohit as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Following his resignation, several key appointments have been made.
Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde, the former Maharashtra Assembly Speaker, has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan. Jishnu Dev Varma, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana. Om Prakash Mathur, a former Rajya Sabha MP, has been appointed as the Governor of Sikkim. Santosh Gangwar, a former Union Minister, has been appointed as the Governor of Jharkhand. Ramen Deka, a former BJP MP, has been appointed as the Governor of Chhattisgarh. C.H. Vijayashankar, a former Karnataka Minister, has been appointed as the Governor of Meghalaya.
C.P. Radhakrishnan, the current Governor of Jharkhand, has been shifted to Maharashtra as its new Governor. Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator for the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed as the Governor of Assam and will also hold additional charge as the Governor of Manipur.
In addition to these appointments, K. Kailashnathan, a former administrator, has been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
