Rishikesh: The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, graced and addressed the 4th convocation of AIIMS Rishikesh today, underscoring the significance of providing world-class education and healthcare services in the medical field.
In her address, President Murmu commended AIIMS Rishikesh and other AIIMS institutions across the nation for their dedication to delivering high-quality and affordable treatment to the people. She emphasized the pivotal role of these institutions in ensuring that healthcare services reach every corner of the country, benefiting more individuals and empowering meritorious students.
Highlighting the increasing participation of women in various sectors, including healthcare, President Murmu applauded the fact that over 60 percent of students at AIIMS Rishikesh are female. This, she noted, reflects a positive societal shift towards gender equality and underscores the importance of women’s contributions in policymaking and tertiary healthcare.
President Murmu stressed the importance of leveraging cutting-edge technology for the betterment of society, urging AIIMS Rishikesh to continue its advancements in areas such as CAR T-cell therapy and Stem Cell Research. She emphasized the growing role of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in diagnostics and treatment, expressing confidence in AIIMS Rishikesh’s ability to harness these technologies for more efficient healthcare delivery.
Addressing regional health challenges, President Murmu noted the prevalence of diseases like osteoporosis and anemia in Uttarakhand due to factors such as lack of sunlight and local dietary habits. She urged AIIMS Rishikesh to prioritize research and solutions tailored to addressing such national, regional, and local health issues. Additionally, she called upon the institution to focus on public health and community engagement, highlighting its potential to contribute significantly to the vision of a ‘Healthy India’ and a ‘Developed India’.
