Paris: Preethi Pal has once again etched her name in the annals of Indian sporting history, securing a bronze medal in the women’s 200m T35 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024. This remarkable achievement comes just days after her historic win in the 100m, marking India’s first-ever medal in the event at the Paralympic Games.

The 23-year-old sprinter from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, delivered a stellar performance, clocking a personal-best time of 30.01 seconds to earn the bronze. This victory brings India’s total medal count at the 17th Summer Paralympics to six, and it makes Preethi the first Indian athlete to win a medal in the 200m event at the Paralympics.

Preethi’s feat in Paris is especially significant as she becomes only the seventh Indian athlete to win multiple medals at the Paralympics, a rare and prestigious achievement. Her back-to-back successes have ignited a wave of celebration across the nation, especially in light of some of the setbacks faced by the Indian contingent on Day 4 of the Games.

As she returns to the track, Indian fans will undoubtedly be watching closely, hoping for more extraordinary performances from this trailblazing athlete.
