Popular Odia Singer Tapu Mishra is No More

Bhubaneswar: Popular Odia playback singer Tapu Mishra passed away due to post-Covid complication while undergoing treatment at the Private Hospital on Saturday.

Her father also succumbed to Covid on May 10.

Tapu developed mild symptoms in May and was in home isolation. Her oxygen saturation level dropped  on May 31 and was admitted to Sparsh Hospital. She was shifted to SUM COVID hospital 10 days ago as there was no improvement in her condition.

She tested negative and was shifted to a regular ICU but her condition remained critical due to post Covid complications.

On June 17, her sister informed that Tapu is in 100 percent ventilator support and not responding to the treatment. The family members were also planning to shift her to Kolkata or Chennai for further treatment and were raising funds for her treatment.

On Friday, the Culture Department of the Odisha government had sanctioned Rs 1 lakh from the Artist Welfare Fund for her treatment.

Tapu has lent her voice for several Odia movies and bhajans.
