Guwahati: All ponds in Assam to be geo-tagged under the government scheme ‘Ghara Ghare Pukhuri, Ghare Ghare Maach’.
The decision was taken by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma after a review meeting with the officials of the State Fisheries Department on Tuesday.
The process of geo-tagging would soon begin across the state.
The scheme was launched during the last budget session for the upliftment of youths in the state and to make them self employed.
The Assam government is also planning to increase fish production in the state by developing big water bodies and ponds in every village which will be owned and maintained by local communities.
