PM Narendra Modi Engages with Indian Community in Russia, Announces New Consulates

Moscow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the Indian community in Russia at a warmly received event held in Moscow today.

In his address to the community, Prime Minister Modi expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and commended the Indian diaspora for its significant contribution to strengthening the India-Russia relationship. Addressing the gathering on behalf of 1.4 billion Indians, he highlighted the special nature of this interaction as it marked his first address to the Indian diaspora in his historic third term.

Prime Minister Modi spoke about the remarkable transformation India has undergone over the past decade, a source of immense pride for all Indians. He stated that one of the primary objectives of his government in this term is to elevate India to the status of the world’s third-largest economy. He highlighted India’s impressive economic growth, which accounts for a significant percentage of global growth, and celebrated the nation’s successes in digital and fintech advancements, green development, and impactful socio-economic programs that empower the common people.

He emphasized that India’s transformative success is a result of the dedication, commitment, and contribution of its 1.4 billion citizens, each of whom dreams of making India a developed country. He noted that through its committed efforts, India is making significant contributions to global prosperity, from tackling climate change to meeting sustainable development goals, positioning itself as a Vishwabandhu, a friend to the world. He also underscored India’s call for peace, dialogue, and diplomacy in resolving global issues, which has found strong resonance internationally.

Prime Minister Modi encouraged the Indian community to continue playing a proactive role in forging a stronger and deeper partnership with Russia. He announced the decision to open two new Indian Consulates in Kazan and Ekaterinburg, a move aimed at boosting people-to-people ties. This announcement was met with great applause from the attendees.

He also praised the community’s efforts in nurturing and sharing Indian cultural traditions with the Russian people, highlighting the vibrancy of Indian culture and its positive impact on bilateral relations.
