PM Modi to Inaugurate Key Railway Projects in Jammu, Telangana, and Odisha on January 6

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several crucial railway projects on January 6, 2025, during a video conferencing event at 12:30 PM. These projects are aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, improving infrastructure, and fostering socio-economic development across different states.

One of the major highlights will be the inauguration of the new Jammu Railway Division. Spanning 742.1 kilometers, the division includes sections such as Pathankot – Jammu – Udhampur – Srinagar – Baramulla, Bhogpur Sirwal – Pathankot, Batala – Pathankot, and Pathankot to Joginder Nagar. This initiative will significantly benefit Jammu and Kashmir, improving connectivity and fulfilling long-standing aspirations of the local population. It is expected to boost tourism, create employment opportunities, and enhance the overall infrastructure of the region.

In Telangana, PM Modi will inaugurate the Charlapalli New Terminal Station in Medchal-Malkajgiri District. Built with a budget of around Rs 413 crore, this state-of-the-art terminal will ease congestion at existing coaching terminals such as Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Kacheguda. The eco-friendly terminal is equipped with modern passenger amenities and will facilitate smoother and more efficient train operations.

Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway. This project, valued at Rs 107 crore, aims to enhance railway infrastructure in Odisha and surrounding regions. The Rayagada Railway Division will feature a modern DRM office building, divisional control office, residences for officers and staff, and improved transport links, including roads and rainwater harvesting systems for sustainability.

The establishment of this division is expected to boost economic development in South Odisha’s tribal regions, generate significant employment opportunities, and improve the region’s connectivity with local industries.

The foundation stone-laying ceremony in Rayagada will be attended by key dignitaries, including Governor of Odisha, Dr. Kambhampati Hari Babu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, Minister of State for Railways & Food Processing Industries, Government of India, Ravneet Singh, and Hon’ble Minister of Railways, I&B and Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, who will oversee the event from Jammu.

The Prime Minister’s initiatives are poised to transform transportation and economic growth across these regions, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for the people of Jammu, Telangana, and Odisha.
