PM Modi Inaugurates New Jammu Railway Division, Ushering in a New Era of Connectivity for J&K

Jammu: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the New Jammu Railway Division in a landmark event that marked a significant step forward in Jammu and Kashmir’s integration with India’s economic and developmental framework. The inauguration, conducted virtually, was hailed as a transformative moment for the region by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, who highlighted the project’s potential to drive economic growth, enhance connectivity, and foster social progress.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Minister of State for PMO, emphasized the historic nature of the development. “This railway division is not just about railways; it is about rewriting Jammu and Kashmir’s future,” he said, reflecting on the challenges that had historically hindered rail connectivity in the region.

He lauded recent advancements in infrastructure, particularly the construction of the world’s highest railway bridge, which soars above the Chenab River at a height greater than the Eiffel Tower. “What was once thought impossible has now been realized. This bridge is a symbol of India’s engineering brilliance and determination to overcome the toughest challenges,” Dr. Singh remarked.

The New Jammu Railway Division aims to revolutionize passenger and freight movement in the region, positioning Jammu as a critical hub. It will not only accelerate economic activities but also enhance access to remote areas through strategically planned rail stoppages and the introduction of Vande Bharat trains.

Dr. Singh also unveiled plans to develop smaller stations, such as Sangaldan, into key junctions, ensuring seamless connectivity across the region. He described the project as a vital step toward transforming Jammu and Kashmir into one of North India’s most connected destinations.

“The Prime Minister’s vision for infrastructure has turned Jammu into a hub of connectivity, unlocking opportunities in tourism, trade, and employment,” he said.

Dr. Singh appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to embrace the transformative potential of this initiative, envisioning a brighter future for the next generation. “This is more than a railway division; it is a symbol of unity, development, and hope for Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

As the rail network expands, it promises to bridge physical and socio-economic distances, contributing to the inclusive growth of the region. With trains set to traverse newly developed tracks, Jammu and Kashmir stands on the cusp of unprecedented opportunities, paving the way for a more connected and prosperous future.
