PM Modi Inaugurates Global Investors Summit 2025 in Bhopal, Showcases Madhya Pradesh’s Economic Potential

Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025 in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, today, underscoring the state’s emerging role as a key economic player in India’s development. In his address, the Prime Minister expressed his immense pride in welcoming investors and business leaders to Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the state’s transformative journey and the integral role it plays in India’s aspirations to become a developed nation by 2047.

Apologizing for the slight delay in his arrival due to ongoing board exams for students, PM Modi acknowledged the importance of investor engagement while ensuring the convenience of students during his travels. He referred to the summit as a crucial step towards making Madhya Pradesh a central part of India’s future growth.

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi emphasized the global optimism about India, stating that India’s economic growth is now a focal point for the world. He referenced recent remarks from global organizations, such as the World Bank, which declared India to be the fastest-growing economy. He also quoted an official from the OECD, who remarked, “The future of the world is in India.” The Prime Minister added that India’s commitment to renewable energy was further highlighted by a UN climate change organization, which declared India a solar power superpower.

The Prime Minister highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s remarkable transformation over the last two decades, moving from electricity and water shortages to becoming a power surplus state. He shared how MP’s development was previously hampered by poor infrastructure, but today, the state is one of India’s leading investment destinations.

PM Modi spoke about the state’s tremendous strides in the electric vehicle (EV) sector, where registrations grew by nearly 90%, showcasing MP’s emergence as a leader in new manufacturing sectors. He also emphasized the progress in road infrastructure, citing the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, which provides faster connectivity between two key economic hubs. Additionally, air connectivity has improved with the expansion of Gwalior and Jabalpur airports, and railway electrification is now 100% complete across MP.

The Prime Minister highlighted Madhya Pradesh’s growing capacity in the energy sector, noting that the state is now power surplus, with over 30% of its energy from clean sources. He pointed to projects like Rewa Solar Park and the newly inaugurated floating solar plant in Omkareshwar as prime examples of MP’s leadership in green energy. PM Modi also mentioned that the Bina Refinery Petrochemical Complex, with an investment of ₹50,000 crore, will turn MP into a petrochemical hub.

As part of MP’s continued infrastructure push, he emphasized the Ken-Betwa River Interlinking Project, which is expected to enhance agricultural productivity and help provide water security to 10 lakh hectares of land. He also discussed the development of food processing, agro-industrial, and textile sectors as a result of this project, marking it as a key driver for sustainable economic growth in MP.

PM Modi reflected on the national reforms that have paved the way for economic growth, particularly within the MSME sector. He mentioned the recent budget that empowers the middle class and MSMEs by making income up to ₹12 lakh tax-free and restructuring tax slabs to stimulate demand and entrepreneurial growth. Furthermore, he stressed the government’s focus on building MSME-led local supply chains, providing credit-linked incentives, and improving access to finance.

He also touched on the ease of doing business, noting that the government has reduced 40,000 regulatory compliances and eliminated 1,500 outdated laws. The De-regulation Commission, created to simplify business regulations at the state and local levels, was also highlighted as an important step toward creating an investment-friendly environment across the country.

PM Modi discussed the immense potential of the textiles, tourism, and technology sectors in driving India’s economic future. He emphasized that Madhya Pradesh, being the cotton capital of India, has the opportunity to make a global impact with its traditional textiles like Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees, along with organic cotton production. He highlighted the government’s focus on promoting technical textiles and expanding the PM MITRA textile parks, with one of them being developed in MP.

In the tourism sector, PM Modi cited Madhya Pradesh’s rich cultural and natural heritage, including Narmada River, national parks, and tribal areas, as key attractions. The “Heal in India” initiative has already gained global recognition, and public-private partnerships in health and wellness tourism are on the rise.

Concluding his speech, PM Modi urged investors to see the current moment as the right time to invest in Madhya Pradesh. He reaffirmed that the state’s rapid development and expanding infrastructure make it a prime destination for global investments.
