PM Modi Inaugurates 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet and Expo, Highlights India’s Green Energy Achievements

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST) today at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The three-day summit celebrates India’s impressive accomplishment of surpassing 200 GW of installed non-fossil fuel capacity, marking a significant milestone in the country’s journey toward green energy. PM Modi also toured the exhibition, which features innovations from public and private sector companies, start-ups, and major industry players.

In his address, the Prime Minister welcomed dignitaries to the summit, expressing confidence in the event’s discussions on the future of energy, technology, and policies. He emphasized that the insights gained from the summit would benefit humanity and contribute to global energy transitions.

A Third-Term Vision for India’s Green Future

Modi reflected on the historic third-term victory of his government, attributing it to the aspirations of 140 crore Indian citizens, including the youth and women. He highlighted the confidence of the people in the government’s vision of making India the third-largest economy. The Prime Minister outlined the government’s priorities in its first 100 days of office, emphasizing the rapid progress in infrastructure development and the green energy sector.

He noted the construction of 7 crore houses, 12 new industrial cities, and the approval of 8 high-speed road corridors. The launch of the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, aimed at installing rooftop solar setups for families, was a key highlight. Over 1.3 crore families have registered under the scheme, with installations completed for 3.25 lakh homes, enabling households to generate and sell electricity to the grid.

Renewable Energy Milestones

In his speech, PM Modi highlighted the developments in the renewable energy sector over the last 100 days, including a viability gap funding scheme for offshore wind energy projects worth over ₹7,000 crore. He also mentioned efforts to produce 31,000 megawatts of hydropower with an outlay of ₹12,000 crore.

The Prime Minister lauded India’s achievement as the first G20 nation to meet its Paris Climate Agreement targets nine years ahead of schedule. He reaffirmed the government’s goal of generating 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 and stressed that India’s green transition is becoming a people’s movement.

Gujarat: A Leader in Green Energy

PM Modi emphasized Gujarat’s pioneering role in the green energy revolution, being the first state to introduce a Solar Policy and set up a dedicated climate ministry. He noted that Gujarat, which led the White and Honey Revolutions, is now hosting this crucial renewable energy summit.

Pointing to Mahatma Gandhi’s timeless words on sustainability, the Prime Minister remarked that India’s green initiatives, such as the PM Surya Ghar scheme and the promotion of solar villages, are grounded in the nation’s longstanding environmental ethos.

Opportunities for Investors and India’s Green Future

The Prime Minister underscored the vast opportunities for investors in India’s renewable energy sector, noting the country’s aim to achieve complete Made in India solutions in green energy manufacturing. He also highlighted India’s progress in nuclear energy, the launch of the ₹20,000 crore Green Hydrogen Mission, and the growing Waste-to-Energy campaign.

Concluding his address, PM Modi emphasized India’s commitment to environmental responsibility through initiatives like Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) and the International Solar Alliance. He urged investors to tap into the enormous potential of India’s green transition, asserting that India guarantees both growth and high returns for investors in the energy sector.
