PM Modi Goes on Safari in Gir, Praises Conservation Efforts on World Wildlife Day

Gir, Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked World Wildlife Day with a visit to Gir National Park, home to the majestic Asiatic Lion. Taking a morning safari, he reflected on his long-standing association with Gir and lauded the collective conservation efforts that have led to a steady increase in the Asiatic lion population over the years.

Sharing his experience on social media platform X, the Prime Minister recalled his time as Chief Minister of Gujarat, highlighting the critical role of tribal communities and women from surrounding areas in preserving the lions’ habitat. He emphasized that their efforts have been instrumental in ensuring the continued growth and protection of the species.

“This morning, on #WorldWildlifeDay, I went on a safari in Gir, which, as we all know, is home to the majestic Asiatic Lion. Coming to Gir also brings back many memories of the work we collectively did when I was serving as Gujarat CM. In the last many years, collective efforts have ensured that the population of Asiatic Lions is rising steadily,” PM Modi wrote.

The Prime Minister also shared photographs of lions and lionesses from his visit, expressing his enthusiasm for wildlife photography and urging people to visit Gir National Park to witness its rich biodiversity.

“Here are some more glimpses from Gir. I urge you all to come and visit Gir in the future,” he posted, sharing captivating images from his safari.
