Phillip Noyce Honored with Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at IFFI 2024

Goa: Celebrated Australian filmmaker Phillip Noyce was awarded the prestigious Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award at the closing ceremony of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The honor pays tribute to Noyce’s outstanding contributions to global cinema, recognizing a career that has spanned decades and delivered iconic films.

Known for directing cinematic gems like Salt starring Angelina Jolie, Patriot Games featuring Harrison Ford, and The Bone Collector with Denzel Washington, Noyce has left an indelible mark on the film industry with his versatile storytelling and masterful direction.

The Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award, one of IFFI’s highest honors, is a tribute to cinematic legends who have significantly impacted the world of cinema. The award includes:

  • A Silver Peacock Medal
  • A Certificate
  • A Shawl
  • A Scroll
  • A cash prize of ₹10,00,000

On receiving the award, Phillip Noyce expressed gratitude and humility. Speaking at the red carpet event, he said, “It’s a privilege to be recognized at a festival named after Satyajit Ray, a visionary filmmaker whose work has inspired generations. India’s rich cinematic tradition continues to influence global storytelling, and it’s an honor to be part of this celebration.”
