Parent-Teacher Meetings Held Across Odisha Schools to Strengthen Student Welfare

Bhubaneswar: Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) for the 2026–27 academic session were held across schools in Odisha, bringing together parents, teachers, School Management Committee (SMC) members and school authorities to discuss measures for improving the quality of education, student welfare and community participation.

The statewide exercise aimed to strengthen collaboration between schools and families while creating a platform to address academic, social and developmental issues affecting students.

During the meetings, participants discussed a range of government initiatives and awareness campaigns, including the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Viksit Bharat, Har Ghar Tiranga 2026, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 3.0, Suravi, and the observance of Swachhata Pakhwada. Parents were also sensitised about their role in ensuring children’s safety in the digital world and supporting their career planning and future aspirations.

The meetings also focused on improving the school environment and student well-being. Discussions covered the availability and maintenance of sanitary vending machines and incinerators for adolescent girls, the importance of cleanliness and hygiene on school campuses, and measures to create a safe and supportive learning environment.

Special emphasis was laid on identifying and bringing out-of-school and dropout children back into the education system to improve enrolment and retention across the state.

Participants were also informed about the facilities and support available for Children with Special Needs (CWSN) under the Samagra Shiksha programme. Teachers and parents discussed their shared responsibility in ensuring inclusive education and promoting the overall development of these students.

The meetings concluded with discussions on improving learning outcomes and school functioning through greater parental involvement. Parents were encouraged to share suggestions and actively participate in school activities, with participants observing that sustained collaboration between schools, families and local communities is essential for the holistic development of students and the continuous improvement of the education system.
