
Bhubaneswar: The Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department, in collaboration with Vrindavan Gurukul, organised the Vrindavan Mahotsav at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, celebrating music and the spirit of Holi with a captivating musical evening. Eminent musician Hariharan graced the event and extended warm Holi greetings to the audience.
The programme began with a collective flute recital by artistes of Vrindavan Gurukul. The ensemble presented soulful renditions of the devotional composition “Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye” and the festive classic “Rang Barse,” creating a vibrant musical ambience through their melodious flute performance. The recital was accompanied by Bishwa Ranjan Nanda on tabla, Vaibhav Das on dhol and Rupesh Jeevan on guitar.
The highlight of the evening was the musical presentation by Hariharan, who enthralled the audience with a series of thumri, devotional songs and ghazals. He began his performance with the thumri “Tu Aaja Kanhna,” followed by the devotional number “Aisi Hori Na Khelo Kanhai Re.” The celebrated singer then presented several popular ghazals including “Log Kehte Hain Ajnabi Tum Ho,” “Jhoom Le Hans Bol Le,” “Nishan Yun To The,” “Woh Nahin Mera Magar,” “Sheher Dar Sheher,” and the timeless “Ranjish Hi Sahi,” drawing huge appreciation from the audience.
