
New Delhi: On the eve of the 75th Republic Day, the government revealed the distinguished recipients of the Padma awards, the nation’s highest civilian honours. The list of 132 awardees encompasses five Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan, and 110 Padma Shri recipients, recognizing their exemplary contributions across various fields.
The Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award, was bestowed upon former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, renowned actor Konidela Chiranjeevi, and the iconic yesteryear actress Vyjayantimala Bali, among other luminaries. The late Bindeshwar Pathak, founder of Sulabh International, and the illustrious classical dancer Padma Subrahmanyam were also honored with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan.
In the category of Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award, notable figures such as actor-turned-politician Mithun Chakraborty, former Union Minister Ram Naik, and versatile singer Usha Utthup received this esteemed recognition, reflecting their remarkable contributions to society.
The Padma awards, a symbol of national acknowledgment and appreciation, celebrate individuals who have significantly enriched the cultural, artistic, scientific, and social fabric of the country.
