Over 350 militants surrender in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Over 350 militants surrendered in Malkangiri district on Saturday.

They surrendered before the police during an outreach programme at Jantapai under Chitrakonda block in presence of Nitesh Wadhwani, IPS, SP and other senior officials.

The police administration distributed clothes and other essential goods to the surrendered militias. They took a pledge to cut all their ties with the militant group LWE and cooperate with the district administration. They also burned an effigy of LWE militia.

The district administration has assured the surrendered militias of adequate security and self-employment opportunities.
